Angel Reese had a night to forget as the Chicago Sky fell to a 107-86 defeat against the Phoenix Mercury.
Reese, so often a dominant presence in the paint at both ends of the court, collected an uncharacteristic two rebounds.
Given she boasts a league-leading average of 10.9 total rebounds a game, it represented a serious diversion from her usual lofty standards.
The tally of two meant her 39-game streak of recording a minimum of nine rebounds came to an unfortunate end.
Additionally, the contest marked the first time in Reese’s professional career she finished with less than five rebounds.
That wasn’t the only unwanted first set by Reese against the Mercury.
The 23-year-old attempted just one shot all game – a three-pointer – marking the first time she’d attempted less than five shots.
Even then, she had to wait until the third quarter for her attempt from beyond the arc.
Reese did manage to sink her three-pointer and added six free throws to take her tally to nine points.
She also had two assists, one block and one steal to round out her stat line.
The loss was the Sky’s fifth in their last six games, with this being the most brutal of the lot.
For the Phoenix, it rained threes all game long.

So much so they broke the single-game franchise record for the most three-pointers with a staggering 17.
Sami Whitcomb led the way with a whopping five from ten attempts, all of which came in the first half.
She top-scored for the Mercury with 17 points and was one of six players who finished in double figures for scoring.
Phoenix’s win was also their fifth on the bounce and improved their record to 11-4.
As for the Sky, they now sit 3-9 for the season.
Although things haven’t quite clicked for Chicago as a team just yet, Reese is in the midst of yet another standout campaign on an individual basis.

Reese averages a double-double this term with 10.8 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Her impressive displays on the court have also seen her bank account receive a hefty boost too.
Reese is one of the most marketable names in the WNBA, and already has endorsement deals with Reebok, Beats by Dre, Wingstop, Xfinity, Raising Cane’s, Panini America, and Reese’s.
Along with her own podcast, it has helped her amass a net worth of around $2million, building on her NIL earnings during her time at LSU.
