They say familiarity breeds contempt, and Michael Cleary makes no bones about relations between Tipperary and Galway being “raw enough” during his playing days before the Tony Keady affair sent them into the stratosphere.
Cleary remembers making his county debut on St Valentine’s Day of 1988 when most of the Tipp squad were “all tanned” having just jumped off the plane from a holiday in the Canary Islands.
