Tiger Woods gives Rory his congratulations
The five-time green jacket winner and closed friend of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, sent out his congratulations over X to his dear friend.
“Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory,” Woods wrote.
“Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. your determination during this round, and this entire journey has show through, and now you’re part of history.
“Proud of you!”
McIlroy joins Woods, along with Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, as the only players to win the Grand Slam.

Mind the gap
There was 11 years between Rory McIlroy’s last Major triumph in the 2014 PGA Championship and Sunday’s Masters triumph.
The gap is the joint-most of all time.
Henry Cotton, Julius Boros, Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw and Tiger Woods are the others.
Woods famously broke his own duck with a 15th Major triumph at Augusta in 2019.
Can McIlroy add to his tally of five?

Ryder Cup captain speaks
“You could just see the Augusta demons leaving Rory when that putt went in,” Europe’s Ryder Cup skipper Luke Donald wrote on X.
“What an unbelievable rollercoaster of emotions – pure sport at its best.
“But history has been made and Rory has joined golf’s most elite by completing the Grand Slam.
“The Green Jacket is finally his.”
