That’s one Ulster opponent taken care of by Kerry, but there’s still a worrying sense that the next one coming down the track – one of Armagh, Tyrone or Monaghan – next weekend at Croke Park will test the Munster county’s collective pulse a lot more than what Cavan did.
An All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final was new ground for Kerry and one of the key questions being asked in the Kingdom all week since their nine-point shellacking by Meath was just how exactly Jack O’Connor’s team would react. Just fine, as it turns out, with a nine-point win over a Cavan team that continued their freefall since their Group 1 win over Mayo a month ago.
