After winning the US Open in 2022, Matt Fitzpatrick said he received a text from one of the greatest winners of all-time.

Fitzpatrick appeared on Fore Play Golf’s podcast and was asked if he had received any texts from anyone that surprised him, after his first career major victory.
“Yeah, I am a member of his golf club down in Florida and he let me in,” Fitzpatrick said on Fore Play Golf’s podcast.
“But Michael Jordan did text me just saying, ‘Well done.’
“That was like, yeah, I was pretty blown away.
“That was unreal.”
Fitzpatrick won his first and only major at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts on June 19, 2022.
He finished at six-under-par, one stroke ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris.
This year’s US Open takes place at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont and Plum, Pennsylvania.
Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite at +275 (according to BetMGM).

It is the shortest odds heading into a US Open since Tiger Woods in 2009.
Woods was +175, but finished tied for sixth that year.
Scheffler is looking to avoid Woods’ fate, and win his first career US Open.
He owns three major victories, the Masters twice and most recently the PGA Championship.
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick will be hoping to get another text from his old friend MJ when it’s all said and done.
Fitzpatrick has 45-1 odds to lift the US Open trophy.
